Gauhati University Published Open Text Book Examination Guidelines for the Students of UG 1st, 3rd and 5th Semester, and PG
#What is Open Text Book Examination:
Open Text Book examination is an examination where students allowed to find and consultant their question answer form the Text Book while writing the answer. Students will get the scheduled time for writing their question answer and submit to the University within the time to online Portal.
#PG Examination: (M.A., M.sc, M.com and other)
All the PG Examination will be conducted by the respective Departments of Gauhati University, Except the Subject of Assamese and Bengali (Students will contact their respective departments for Examination of Assamese and Bengali). Schedule of the Examination will be published on Gauhati University web Portal
#Features of the Open Text Book Examination:
- The Examination will be held only ONLINE Mode only no other mode will be entertained.
- Students download their Question Paper and Upload their answer script through online mode only.
- Student will arrange all equipment like an electronic gadget as mobile phone PC etc. and proper internet connectivity for downloading the Question paper and Uploading their answer script online.
- University will provide practice session for the students for online exam.
#Examination Process:
- Students will upload their active mobile number to the IUMS (Integrated University Management System) Portal i.e. guportal.net & guportal.in
- Students are advised to follow University Examination Practice session for online Examination.
- Students Login the examination portal to their ID and Password.
- After Login students will download their question paper.
- Students use to A4 size paper for writing their answer.
- Answer script handwriting must be the students own handwriting.
- The first page of the Answer script contain the following particulras a) Subject Name and subject Code b) Registration No. c) Roll No. d) Paper Code (All pages of answer script must insert the page number)

- Students will upload a single PDF File upto 5 MB (students will be able to upload Maximum 5 MB PDF file only but greater then 5 MB will not be able to upload the answer script)
- Students while scanning their PDF file only prefer to Black and white scanning.
- Students will use to PDF scanning app from google play store like as: a) Photoscanner b) Adobe scanner c) Tap Scanner d) Air Scanner e) Kagaz Scanner f) Microsoft Office Lens

#Question Paper for Open Text Book Examination: Question paper of 100 marks will be held only for 70 marks
#Downloading the question paper:
- Question paper (for each Open Text Book Examination) will be available for downloading for students from the portal 30 minutes before of the commencement of examination.
- Answer script upload facility will be remain 1 hour after end of the Examination.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR UPCOMING EXAMINATIONS (S0P) (Gauhati University)
All students follow this accordingly
1. Students use to A4 size paper for writing their answer. Answer script handwriting must be the students own handwriting.
3. Students will upload a single PDF File upto 5 MB (students will be able to upload Maximum 5 MB PDF file only but greater then 5 MB will not be able to upload the answer script)
4. A procedure is laid down in the portal https://web.gauhati.ac.in/otbe. to know as to how to scan and convert the Answer Sheets in to PDF and can be reduced to less than 5.00 MB. This is very crucial for successful uploading. As such, the examinees should practise and learn properly as to how to limit it to less than the specified size.
5. The Question Papers will be available for downloading 30 minutes before the beginning of the Examination.
6. Question paper (for each Open Text Book Examination) will be available for downloading for students from the portal 30 minutes before of the commencement of examination. Answer script upload facility will be remain 1 hour after end of the Examination.
7. Once a student uploads a document, he/she can’t do it again. So make sure that-
A. The Answer Sheets are properly scanned, converted to a single PDF maintaining serialization of the pages.
B. Recheck the size of the document before going for uploading and make sure it does not exceed 5 MB size.
C. So, students are strongly advised to practise this procedure (scanning and conversion to PDF) using any document available at hand.
8. Students will upload their active mobile number to the IUMS (Integrated University Management System) Portal i.e. guportal.net & guportal.in
9. Since it is an Open Book Examination conducted in the online mode, they will be able to take the
help of the textbooks, notes etc.
10. The total marks for each paper will be 70 percent of the total theory marks. Duration of the
examination will be mentioned in the question papers.
11. There will be no offline submission of any Answer Sheet anywhere.
12. Further, students are informed to ensure their connectivity and use of proper gadgets.
13. All practical examinations will be notified later on.
