CTET: CTET stands for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, This examination is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. It is a qualifying examination for candidates aspiring to become a teacher in various Central Government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, State Government Schools and other schools under the administrative control of the Union Territories of India.

The CTET examination is conducted twice a year, generally in the month of July and December, in two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for those who want to teach classes I (One) to V (Five) this also called for primary level teacher, while Paper 2 is for those who want to teach classes VI (Six) to VIII (Eight). Candidates can also appear for both papers of the examination if they wish to teach classes from I to VIII.

The CTET exam is conducted in online (CBT) i.e. Computer Based Test mode and consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The duration of the exam is two and a half hours for (Paper 1 and Paper 2) each paper, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers.

Qualifying the Central TET (CTET) examination is mandatory for candidates who want to apply for teaching jobs in Central Government schools and other state Govt. Schools. CTET is an important examination for individuals who aspire to become a teacher in Central Government schools and others schools where allowed CTET. It helps to maintain the quality of education in these institutions and guarantees that the applicants have the knowledge and capabilities required for the teaching profession.

The NCTE has announced the minimum criteria for applying the CTET. The candidates are advised to confirm their eligibility through the NCTE website at https://ncte.gov.in. 

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.

OR

“Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)”

“(a) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two year of such appointment as primary teacher”.

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.

OR

Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.

2. Click on the link for 'Apply Online.'

3. Enter the required details such as name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, etc. Create a password and select a security question.

4. Click on 'Next' and enter your academic qualifications and other personal details.

5. Upload scanned copies of your passport-sized photograph and signature in the prescribed format.

6. Select the examination center and language of the question paper.

7. Pay the application fees online through a debit card, credit card, or net banking.

8. Verify all the details entered and click on 'Submit.'

9. Take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

A copy of the CTET application form and the receipt for the application fee must be kept for future use. Before registering for the CTET exam, applicants should confirm that they comply with the eligibility criteria.
