TET CERTIFICATE VALIDITY EXTENDED 7 YEARS TO LIFETIME
Union Education Minister Govt. of India Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced that Government has decided to extend the validity period of teacher eligibility test qualifying certificate from 7 Years to lifetime with retrospective effect from 2011.
The respective State Govt. / UTs will take necessary action to revalidate/ issue fresh TET certificate to those candidates whose period of 7 years has already elapsed, he added.
Shri Pokhoriyal said this will be positive step in increasing the employment opportunities for candidates aspiring to make a career in the teaching field.
Teacher Eligibility Test is one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a Teacher in schools. The guidelines dated 11th February 2011 of the (NCTE) National Council for Teacher Education laid down that TET would be connected by the State Governments and the validity of the TET certificate was seven years from the date of qualified or passing.

๐บGuidelines for conducting Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), 2011
๐บStructure and Content of TET
➤The some structure of the TET is here.
All
questions will be (MCQs), each carrying 1 mark, with four
alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking.
The examining body should strictly follow to the structure and content of the TET
specified below.
➤There will be two papers of the TET. Paper I will be for a person who wants to be
a teacher for classes One to Five. Paper II will be for a person who wants to be a teacher for
classes Six to Eight. A person who wants to be a teacher either for classes One to Five or for
classes Six to Eight will have to appear in both papers (Paper I and Paper II).
๐บPaper I (for classes I to V); No. of MCQs – 150;
Duration of examination: 1 and-a-half hours
➤Structure and Content (All Compulsory)
(i) Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(ii) Language I: 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(iii) Language II: 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(iv) Mathematics: 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(v) Environmental Studies: 30 MCQs 30 Marks
๐บPaper II (for classes VI to VIII); No. of MCQs – 150;
Duration of examination : one-and-a-half hours

(i) Pedagogy & Child Development (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks

(iv) (a) For Science and Maths teacher : Mathematics and Science – 60 MCQs (1 mark each)
(b) For teacher of Social studies : Social Studies - 60 MCQs (1 mark each)
๐บ Qualifying marks
➤A person who obtained 60% or more marks in the TET exam will be considered as TET
qualified.
➤ consider to giving concessions candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC,
differently abled persons, etc., in accordance with their extant reservation
policy.
๐บAward of TET Certificate:
➤The concerned Government conduct the Test shall award a TET Certificate to
all successful or qualified candidates. The certificate should contain the address, name of the
candidate, date of birth, Registration No. etc.
